This secondhand Hanson T6 Clarinet is in superb condition, it has some minor wear from general use, but nothing that affects the instruments playability or overall looks. The instrument has been recently serviced in our workshop, and will be put through our workshop again before despatch.
This is an example of a large (English) bore (15.3mm) clarinet, based on traditional designs from English makers of the 1950’s. Our ‘English bore’ clarinets have a broad homogenous tone, that is darker and less focussed than the smaller ‘French bore’ instruments. Favoured by Jazz and Symphonic players alike, this clarinet has a sound reminiscent of recordings from the big band era.
Famous ‘English bore’ clarinets include the Boosey and Hawkes 10-10, and similarly to the 10-10, our large bore clarinets play best when used with a matching large bore mouthpiece.
Our best selling professional clarinet that sets new standards in playability. The key to the success of the T6 is it’s ease of playing and evenness of tone – sweep through the registers with ease; relax and enjoy your music.
The wooden body of the T6 clarinet is naturally seasoned for a minimum of 8 years, (although we are presently benefitting and enjoying a limited amount of 10 year old blackwood) before final sculpting using our purpose built computer controlled machine which boasts a repeatable accuracy of 6 microns (0.006mm!).
In these days of mass produced instruments it is generally assumed that ‘hand made’ is a mark of excellence but actually it is accuracy and precision which give us our edge over competitors. Although our clarinets could be termed ‘handmade’ it is better said that they are ‘hand tailored’ and that our needles are without a doubt the finest, and most precise of any craftsman (or craftswoman!).
It’s all getting a little too poetic now…. so here’s the ‘Yorkshire’ version of the above: The T6 clarinet has a great following and we’ve had excellent reviews. That’s because it’s an excellent instrument and we take a lot of pride in making something well. Oh, and because you can buy directly from us (without going through a retail dealer) its roughly a £1000 less than it’s peers which is no bad thing!
If you are looking for the best professional clarinet on the market below £5000 then call us and order a Hanson T6 – if you’re feeling really ‘flush’ then order a T7 with closer helical cutting tolerances on the tone holes, older more figured wood and some ultra fine finishing on the keys. Either way this is an instrument which is going to give you years and years of pleasure.
The worlds first FSC certified clarinets: made from sustainably sourced African blackwood (Grenadilla).
We have always chosen our wood with care and season (age) naturally – no kiln drying or artificial methods are used to speed up the manufacture process – and we are proud that the wood we buy is sustainably sourced. In 2008 Hanson Clarinet Company was presented with an special award by the Forestry stewardship council in recognition of our ‘outstanding contribution’ to conservation and sustainable manufacturing. We made the worlds first FSC certified clarinet in 2010 – featured by BBC news and later presented to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
