Professional Opinion

Just like the 'Classic Edition'  round stamp horn,  it is immediately comfortable. It feels just right.  The tone is rich and full with excellent intonation and played side by side to the 'best of the rest' from Besson, Yamaha, Sterling and Courtois there is simply no question that this horn feels more even throughout the registers and more comfortable in the hand.

Sandy's Signature Edition instrument is made with a uninterupted bore design:  no water keys, no gutters, the passage of air and vibrations through the instrument is optimal.  The addition of the custom leadpipe design on the Sandy Smith model adds a rear slide and extends the mouthpipe taper.  The valves are perfectly aligned and the joints are made so that they align inside the horn and stays and joints are 'destressed'  during assembly.   Acoustic annealing completes the horn and it is supplied in raw brass protected by microcystaline wax.  It's a distinctive look and purposeful too.

For those that prefer their instruments shiny silver and gold and prefer water keys and triggers, well those are all available too...  just ask.

The balance and playing position is of particular note.  The Hanson 'round stamp' horn sits in your hand feels natural.  The weight distribution is even and balanced as you lift the horn to your lips it feels just right.

The best tenor horn there is - and it's made in Britain!

Sandy Smith is one of the best known tenor horn players ever.   Solo horn with Black Dyke, Fairey, Grimethorpe, Conductor, Arranger, Audjudicator and teacher.  For more details visit Sandy's website by at www.sandysmithmusic.co.uk
